The unit economics look fantastic at first glance and then deteriorate the moment you do the actual math at scale. $15 bracelet + $3 shipping = $18 gross. Materials $4 (embroidery thread + clasp/beads), real shipping $2.75. Total cost ~$6.75. Etsy fees on the gross:

- Transaction fee (6.5% of $18): $1.17
- Payment processing (3% + $0.25): $0.79

Etsy total: $4.86 — 27% of gross. After cost of goods and shipping: net profit is $18 − $6.75 − $4.86 = $6.39 — about 35.5% net margin on the buyer-facing total.
That 35.5% looks fine until you factor labor. A custom-pattern friendship bracelet takes 30–60 minutes to weave. At 45 minutes per piece the hourly rate is about $8.52 — well below minimum wage. This is a hobby economy unless you fundamentally restructure the listing.
The common mistake: per-bracelet listings
